Cheylesmore Good Neighbours
About Cheylesmore Good Neighbours
Cheylesmore Good Neighbours was formed 13 years ago by a group of volunteers, led by John Graham, who provided the initial set-up costs. Our objective was and still is, to engage with isolated lonely residents across the city. We provide a safe environment and meet fortnightly on Friday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
Our group meetings include either a speaker on a wide range of topics or an activity session with, for example, armchair yoga or line dancing. We also run one-to-one technology sessions. These enable the older person to get to grips with their mobile phone, laptop etc. The sessions usually last 1.5 hours, with the delegate setting the agenda for what they want to learn.
We also regularly go on holidays, day trips to places of interest, as well as trips to the theatre and pub lunches.
