Providing social contact and wellbeing support to young people aged 17–25.
Core tasks
- To engage in a social activity with a young person experiencing emotional issues
- To explore community-based activities the young person may like to access
- To be a supportive role model whilst maintaining professional boundaries
- To engage with the young person and encourage empowerment and independence
Person specification
- The volunteer needs to have, warmth, sensitivity, understanding, patience and a sense of humour, with a mature flexible outlook and enough time to volunteer regularly.
- To be able to give at least six months commitment.
- No specific experience is necessary as training will be given
- Must be aged over 18
Support offered
- Induction training is provided before volunteers take up their roles
- Ongoing training is provided by the coordinator
- Support/supervision sessions provided
- Reimbursement of expenses
- Public liability insurance cover
Any other information
- Volunteers are required to complete an application form
- Provide details of two referees (who are not related and have known the applicant for a minimum of two years)
- Complete a DBS check
- Attend any training required
