Improving Lives is for anyone aged 18 years and over who is unemployed (or NEET) who wants to know more about volunteering opportunities in Coventry.

Improving Lives is for anyone aged 18 years and over who is unemployed (or NEET) who wants to know more about volunteering opportunities in Coventry, and have a go at some volunteering activities to increase their confidence and well-being.


The Improving Lives course consists of 12 structured sessions of engaging activities, discussions, visits and support that take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10.30am to 12.30pm for 6 weeks. Additionally, participants can access to one-to-one support and guidance to help them with volunteering or employment barriers. 


The course aim is to support participants to focus on their futures and realise their potential, improving confidence in their own skills and abilities and what they have to offer, and to learn about and practice elements necessary for finding, applying for and securing volunteer or work roles.


The course contains small group work, discussion and information-giving. Places are limited to ensure everyone receives personalised recommendations or support. If we can make it easier for you to take part, please let us know your requirements!

Getting there

Our venue is inside the Harp Place building on Sandy Lane, CV1 4DX. The number 15 bus stops very near the building if you’d like to reach us by public transport. For those of you driving, there is on-street parking along Sandy Lane and for anyone with a blue badge, disabled parking bays are available in our staff car park. We also have bike rails if you cycle in and want to lock your bike securely. We are roughly a 10-minute walk from the city centre.

About Improving Lives project

Improving Lives is a volunteering course consisting of 12 structured sessions of engaging activities, discussions, visits and support. Anyone aged 18 years and over who is unemployed (or NEET) who wants to know more about volunteering opportunities in Coventry, and have a go at some volunteering activities to increase their confidence and well-being is welcome to register and take part.
