Help our CIC find suitable grants, strengthen applications and develop good governance as we expand support for neurodivergent children and families.
The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC is a Coventry-based community organisation supporting Autistic and ADHD people and their families through information, advocacy, practical support and inclusive programmes.
We are looking for a reliable Volunteer Funding and Governance Adviser to help us develop a stronger and more sustainable organisation. This is an important opportunity to contribute to projects that aim to improve early recognition and practical support for neurodivergent children, young people and families.
The volunteer will work alongside our Managing Director and board to:
- Research suitable grants and funding opportunities.
- Maintain a calendar of application deadlines.
- Help prepare, write and review funding applications.
- Assist with project budgets and funding plans.
- Make sure applications clearly explain the need, activities, outcomes and community benefit.
- Help us plan for continued funding beyond each individual grant.
- Support good record-keeping, monitoring and reporting.
- Offer constructive advice that strengthens our governance and decision-making.
We would particularly welcome someone with experience in grant applications, fundraising, community organisations, education, SEND, finance or CIC governance. You should be able to communicate clearly, work reliably and handle sensitive organisational information confidentially. Lived experience of autism, ADHD or caring for a neurodivergent person is welcomed but is not essential.
The role is expected to require approximately 3–5 flexible hours each week. Most tasks can be completed remotely, with occasional meetings in Coventry or online.
This will initially be a voluntary adviser position so that we can make sure the arrangement is right for everyone. For someone with the appropriate experience, commitment and interest in the whole organisation, there may later be an opportunity to become an unpaid Funding and Governance Director. Any appointment would be by mutual agreement after discussing the full legal responsibilities of becoming a CIC director.
You will receive an induction, ongoing support and clear information about our organisation, current projects and funding priorities. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a growing CIC and help develop support that could reach children and families across Coventry and beyond.
