Help a growing neurodiversity CIC strengthen its governance, company structure and policies, with potential to progress to a voluntary Director role.
The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC is a Coventry-based community organisation providing neurodiversity support, psychoeducation and advocacy for autistic and ADHD children, young people, adults and families.
As our organisation develops, we want to strengthen our governance and make sure our company structures, policies and processes are robust, transparent and funder-ready.
We are looking for a skilled volunteer with experience in CIC/company governance, charity or voluntary-sector governance, company secretarial work, legal services or organisational compliance.
Depending on your experience, you could support us with:
- Reviewing our Articles of Association and governance arrangements
- Helping us understand membership, voting rights and director responsibilities
- Supporting good processes for appointing and removing directors
- Reviewing Companies House and CIC governance requirements
- Helping maintain appropriate company and governance records
- Developing board procedures and terms of reference
- Reviewing conflicts of interest and declarations
- Supporting the development and review of key organisational policies
- Helping us identify when specialist legal or professional advice is required
- Helping ensure our governance is appropriate for grant funding and commissioned services
You do not need to be a solicitor to apply. We would welcome people with relevant professional experience in governance, company administration, charities, CICs, compliance, law or the voluntary sector.
This is a flexible voluntary role that can largely be carried out remotely. We anticipate approximately 2–4 flexible hours per month initially, with additional time by agreement when particular governance work is being completed.
The role will begin as a skilled volunteer position. Once we have worked together and established mutual trust, there may be an opportunity for the right person to become a voluntary Director of The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC and contribute to the organisation's longer-term development.
We particularly value people who are comfortable asking questions, providing independent challenge and helping a small organisation develop strong and proportionate governance.
