Repair Cafes have been keeping items out of landfill since 2009. So many items today are made to be thrown away as soon as even the smallest or cheapest part fails. Built in obsolescence means that everyone wants to buy the latest version, but some of us just want to keep using what we already have. To fight back against the throw away society, Repair Cafes around the country are showing people how easy it can be to fix what you already own. Spare parts can be bought online and we have a range of tools, glues, fuses, nuts, bolts, switches and cables that can keep your items alive.
So if you'd like to help, or just see how it's done, join us between 10am and noon on the fourth Saturday of each month (Jan to Nov) in the Central Library.
