To help RE(YOU)S stay connected to the community by engaging with people, listening to what’s needed, and feeding that back into the team.
We are looking for a Community Engagement & Outreach Volunteer to help strengthen relationships between RE(YOU)S, the community, and local organisations.
This role is about connection, conversation, listening, and helping people feel welcomed into RE(YOU)S spaces, activities, and opportunities.
You will help us better understand the community, support inclusive participation, and help create environments where people feel comfortable engaging, exploring, and contributing.
This is not a sales role or a corporate outreach position. It is people-focused, relationship-led, and grounded in genuine community connection.
What You’ll Do
- Spend time in community spaces, events, workshops, or conversations
- Build connections with individuals, groups, and local organisations
- Help welcome people into RE(YOU)S activities and spaces
- Listen to what people need, are struggling with, or are looking for
- Help people understand RE(YOU)S projects and opportunities
- Support outreach and engagement activities
- Share insights, observations, and feedback with the team
- Help strengthen the connection between RE(YOU)S and the wider community
- Support inclusive and welcoming environments, both online and in person
What You Won’t Do
- Speak on behalf of RE(YOU)S without alignment
- Represent other organisations
- Collect or use information without clarity or consent
- Work in isolation without feeding back into the team
- Be expected to “fix” people’s situations
- Pressure people into participating or sharing information
Who You’ll Work With
- The wider RE(YOU)S team
- Volunteers across different projects
- Community members and local organisations
- Workshop and event support volunteers
- RE(FIX) Crew and EX(CHANGE) activities where relevant
What Might Help
You do not need formal qualifications for this role.
It may help if you are:
- Friendly and approachable
- Comfortable speaking with different people
- A good listener
- Community-minded
- Curious and open to learning
- Supportive and respectful of different experiences
- Comfortable working within a team environment
Experience in community engagement, events, volunteering, wellbeing support, customer-facing roles, outreach, youth work, or participation work may be helpful, but is not essential.
What You’ll Gain
- Experience supporting a growing community organisation
- Opportunities to build communication and engagement skills
- Experience within community and circular economy projects
- Opportunities to meet people and build local connections
- A supportive and collaborative environment
- Opportunities to contribute ideas and shape developing projects
- References available following consistent involvement
Flexibility & Support
This is a flexible volunteer role, and we recognise that people balance volunteering alongside work, study, health, caring responsibilities, and life.
We aim to create supportive volunteering opportunities where people feel welcomed, respected, and able to participate in ways that work for them.
If there is anything that would help support your participation or accessibility within the role, we are happy to have that conversation.
