What’s involved?

- Delivery of 1-1 and/or weekly group support, in person and/or online, to assigned service users who have been assessed by the staff team to be appropriate for support from the programme
- Providing of brief feedback via an online link after each support session, to inform next steps for client care.
- Attend quarterly online ‘Reflective Sessions’, where volunteers can come together to discuss successes, challenges, ask questions about support, and reconnect socially with fellow peers
- Access to NCT’s free clinical supervision (where appropriate) to care for your own mental health

- Parents themselves, aged 18+, with experience of the overwhelm and wellbeing challenges of early parenthood
- Mentally well & passionate about making a difference to new parents by offering a friendly, reliable, kind ear
- Reliable team players, who are non-judgmental, supportive and calm, whilst remaining warm and informal
- Able to observe confidentiality and be patient, appreciating small but important steps clients make
Time commitment:
- Offering 2 hours per week for 12 months term time to provide support to local parents
- Initial training runs for 2/3 hour per week over 5-7 weeks – a selection of daytime and evening cohorts available every January, April and September
What can you expect from us?

We are an established local charity providing perinatal peer support for pregnant people and new mothers and birthing people across Coventry and Warwickshire. We are commissioned by the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust and have been supporting local mums and birthing people since 2016.
We support mums and birthing parents who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties during pregnancy and/or with a baby up to the age of two years. They might be feeling more anxious or lonely during pregnancy, or finding the transition to parenthood challenging.
Our service runs across Warwickshire and Coventry and provides support by referral only from both professionals and mums and birthing parents themselves. We currently have regular face-to-face group peer support across Coventry but also in Leamington, Nuneaton, Rugby, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick. We offer remote support in various formats, including a universal evening group and two additional specialist groups (a pregnancy-specific group and a “Creative Cuppa” space). We also provide 1:1 peer support where deemed more suitable.
