Detailed description
Sacred Funk play top quality and highly distinctive sounds that draw on a variety of musical traditions.
The Sacred Funk Quartet will be performing their award winning album ‘Tales of Orisa’ exploring the songs of the Orisa characters from the Yoruba pantheon through styles drawn from across the African Diaspora.
The Quartet performed at Havana Jazz Festival 2025 and were then awarded the prestigious Cuba Disco International Award – known as the Cuban Grammy.
Founders Clarinettist Kate Luxmoore and Twice Grammy winning Percussionist, Lekan Babalola explore ancient music through a contemporary lens bringing new life into the traditional songs of their heritage and will be presenting new material of English Folk Song during the second half of the evening.
