Summary
Guide Dogs is looking for volunteers to welcome one of the 90 new guide dog mums joining our breeding programme in 2025! Join our virtual event to find out moreDetailed description
If you are interested in having a Guide Dog mum in your home, why not join this free event to find out more.
Our Breeding Dog Volunteer role is ideal for dog-lovers seeking a permanent furry family member. Your guide dog mum will be a loving companion for the majority of the time, with the special task of raising life-changing guide dog puppies roughly once a year for about 8 weeks.
✨ Why volunteer?
- Watch adorable puppies grow from tiny newborns to confident bundles of joy.
- Feel the pride of helping create life-changing guide dogs for people with sight loss.
- Enjoy a socialised, house-trained dog and the option to adopt her when she retires.
- Costs covered – food, vet bills, training and equipment.
✨ Ideally you will
- Have a home with a safely fenced garden.
- Have dog handling experience but this isn't essential.
- Have a clean driving licence and access to a car you are insured to drive.
- Be able to ensure that your Guide Dogs mum is not left alone for more than 4 hours in a 24-hour period.
- Live within an hour's drive from our National Centre, just outside Leamington Spa, CV33 9QJ.
Join us online on Tuesday 16th September, 12:00pm – 1:00pm via Microsoft Teams to find out more. You'll hear from our expert team and current volunteers and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Please email us to register your interest or visit our website.
