Join Geek.Zone as Charity & Corporate Collaboration Lead (Volunteer, 2-4 hrs/wk)! Build partnerships, coordinate events, and help expand our community.
Organisation: Geek.Zone
Position: Charity & Corporate Collaboration Lead (Volunteer)
Location: Remote/Coventry area
Commitment: Flexible (Approx. 2–4 hours per week)
About Geek.Zone
At Geek.Zone, we build inclusive, friendly communities for geeks of all kinds. We use shared passions—from board games and video games to coding, sci-fi, and creative arts—to bring people together, combat social isolation, and boost mental wellbeing.
Community is at the heart of everything we do, and that includes building strong bonds with other organisations. In the past, we’ve partnered with fantastic charities like Grapevine to run impactful joint events, and we’re looking for someone to help us unlock even more of these great partnerships!
Role Overview
We are looking for an outgoing, proactive volunteer to lead our collaboration outreach. You will research potential partner charities, non-profits, and community-minded businesses, reach out to introduce Geek.Zone, and explore ways we can work together—whether that's co-hosting events, cross-promoting initiatives, or sharing resources.
Key Responsibilities
* Research & Discovery: Identify potential charity partners, local community groups, and local/national businesses whose values align with ours.
* Outreach & Networking: Initiate contact with prospective partners via email, phone, online networking, or in person as needed to introduce Geek.Zone.
* Event Collaboration: Coordinate with partner organisations to brainstorm, plan, and support joint events (building on successful models like our work with Grapevine).
* Relationship Management: Serve as a warm, friendly main point of contact to maintain ongoing positive relationships with external partners.
What We’re Looking For
* Great Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication—you feel comfortable reaching out to new people and representing the charity.
* Proactive & Resourceful: Comfortable doing a bit of online research to find local businesses, grants, or charities to connect with.
* Community-Minded: Enthusiastic about our mission to support mental health, inclusion, and geek culture.
* Organised: Able to keep simple records of who you’ve contacted and follow up effectively.
What You’ll Get Out of It
* A Steller Reference: We are delighted to provide a detailed volunteer reference highlighting your networking, partnership management, and communication achievements.
* Network & CV Building: Excellent real-world experience in business development, outreach, PR, and non-profit relationship building.
* High Impact: You will directly shape our events and expand our reach, helping us connect with people who need our community the most.
* Flexible Hours: Fits easily around your existing work, study, or family commitments—work whenever suits you best.
