Job Title: Community Event Host (Volunteer)

Organisation: Geek.Zone

Location: Coventry (In-Person)

Commitment: Flexible (Based on your event schedule)

About Geek.Zone

At Geek.Zone, we build inclusive, friendly communities for geeks of all kinds. We use shared passions—from board games, video games, and tabletop RPGs to coding, cosplay, and creative arts—to bring people together, combat social isolation, and boost mental wellbeing in Coventry.

Role Overview

Have a passion project, game, or hobby you love and want to share with others? We are looking for enthusiastic Community Event Hosts based in the Coventry area to bring new in-person events to life! Whether you want to run a weekly board game night, a monthly LAN party, a craft workshop, or a sci-fi book club, you pitch the idea, and we’ll help you make it happen. You bring the passion for hosting, and we’ll provide the support, venue backup, and potential funding to turn your vision into a successful community meetup.

Key Responsibilities

 * Event Pitching & Hosting: Propose the event ideas you are excited to run, then lead, host, and facilitate those meetups for our local members.

 * Policy & Safeguarding: Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment by adhering to Geek.Zone’s policies, code of conduct, and safeguarding requirements.

 * Monthly Newsletter Updates: Provide brief monthly updates on your events—including fun highlights and event photos—to feature in our community newsletter.

 * Community Connection: Welcome attendees, help newcomers feel included, and foster positive, friendly vibes at every session.

Support Provided by Geek.Zone

 * Local Regent Guidance: You won't be doing this alone! Our Coventry Local Regent will be your direct point of contact to offer ongoing support, answer questions, and assist with any issues that arise.

 * Setup & Logistics Support: We help with finding venues, promoting your event across our channels, and getting everything structured.

 * Funding & Resources: Financial backing and resource funding are available where applicable to help cover event costs, equipment, or materials.

What We’re Looking For

 * Coventry-Based: Located in or around Coventry and able to host in-person events locally.

 * Passionate & Welcoming: Enthusiastic about your chosen hobby and excited to build an inclusive community space around it.

 * Reliable & Responsible: Dependable in sticking to your event schedule and committed to keeping our community safe and aligned with our policies.

 * Good Communicator: Comfortable chatting with attendees, taking photos, and keeping the Local Regent updated.

What You’ll Get Out of It

 * Stellar Volunteer Reference: A detailed reference highlighting your event management, leadership, and community organization skills.

 * Bring Your Dream Event to Life: Complete creative freedom to pitch and run the events you care about, backed by charity funding and resources.

 * Local Impact: Directly combat loneliness in Coventry by creating safe, fun spaces for local geeks to make lasting friendships.

 * Full Backup: Access to operational, financial, and policy support from our local leadership team.

How Can You Help
- Skill Sharing & Education: Hands-on spaces to explore creative hobbies and technical skills—from restarting our Coding Club and hosting creative arts classes, to teaching hands-on skills like miniature painting, cosplay, and drawing.
- Community & Connection: A vibrant, inclusive home for shared passions. We bring people together through tabletop gaming (D&D, board games), video games, quizzes, anime and manga book clubs, meals out, cinema trips, cosplay outings, and much more.
