Volunteer Learning Support Assistant

Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre (CRMC) extends a warm embrace to asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants in Coventry, fostering an environment that empowers them to rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.

We offer English classes to aid integration, with qualified teachers providing sessions throughout the week in Coventry. Tailored to varying language needs, our classes cater to newcomers and long-term residents alike. Additionally, we provide informative sessions covering essential topics such as housing, benefits, employment, and health. Led by experienced instructors, our classes include small group support to enhance learning.

Volunteer learning support assistants will support CRMC to deliver our English classes to Refugee and migrants in different venues across the city.  You work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to enable access to learning for ESOL students and to assist the teacher in the management of learners and the classroom. You will work in partnership with class teacher to support learning in line with the curriculum at the CMRC, Codes of Practice and Classroom Policies and procedures.

Volunteers will gain experience working in a teaching environment, working with diverse groups whilst supporting a charity and wider community. All volunteers will receive a certificate upon completion of volunteering and references.
