We are seeking Volunteer Community Advisors, who want to share their skills and knowledge to help our charity achieve its aims.
People in our city are struggling to make ends meet. Right now, some are having to choose between paying bills or feeding themselves and their children. Many are finding it hard to pay essential bills, like gas and electricity. They may have a disability, be in low-paid insecure jobs or be caring for a relative. They may have experienced a crisis.
Coventry Independent Advice Service provides independent advice and information on welfare benefits and debt/money problems. We work in communities across the city, delivering our service from libraries, community centres and other venues.
We are looking for Volunteer Community Advisors who want to share their skills and knowledge to help our charity achieve its aims. You will receive support, training and out of pocket expenses. You will also gain valuable experience.
What you’ll be doing :
- Work alongside friendly staff and volunteers to support clients with a wide range of issues
- Help people get online and access essential services and support
- Write clear and accurate summaries of client issues and next steps
- Carry out benefit checks, help complete forms, or support clients to create budgets
What we ask for is enthusiasm and a commitment of 7 hours each week.
