Coventry Boys & Girls Club is seeking friendly volunteer Sports Youth Workers to engage and inspire young people through fun sports and physical activities

Volunteer Sports Youth Worker – Coventry Boys & Girls Club

Coventry Boys & Girls Club is looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Sports Youth Workers to support our youth sessions on the following days:

  • Thursday: 17:30 – 20:00
  • Friday: 16:00 – 20:00

We are seeking friendly, welcoming individuals with a background or interest in sports, fitness, coaching, or youth work, who would like to give back by helping young people stay active, build confidence, and develop teamwork skills.

Our youth sessions give young people the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities, and we would love to expand our programme with engaging sessions such as:

  • Football and team games
  • Basketball and fitness activities
  • Multi-sports sessions
  • Dodgeball and recreational games
  • Team-building challenges
  • Health, wellbeing, and active lifestyle workshops

As a volunteer, you will help create a positive and supportive environment where young people can build confidence, improve their wellbeing, develop teamwork skills, and enjoy being active with others. This is a high level physical activity volunteer role and wearing comfortable sports clothes / ability to get involved physically in games would be advantageous.

About Us

Coventry Boys & Girls Club is an impactful charity based in the heart of Coventry. We work with children and young people from across the city, many of whom face multiple levels of disadvantage.

Led by a passionate Board of Trustees, our mission is to create opportunities that inspire and support young people, helping them to thrive now and in the future.

We provide a wide range of services, from Open Access Sessions where young people can make friends and enjoy activities such as sports, music, poetry, and cooking, to targeted programmes like The MAC Project, which offers mentoring for 10–19-year-olds around crime prevention, diversion, and community reparation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly and approachable people who enjoy working with young people
  • An interest or experience in sports, coaching, fitness, or youth engagement
  • Positive role models who can encourage participation and confidence
  • Reliability and enthusiasm

What We Offer

  • A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives
  • Full training and ongoing support
  • Experience within a respected community charity

Important Information

As we are a children’s charity and support other vulnerable people, an enhanced DBS check is essential. Coventry Boys & Girls Club will arrange the application and cover the full cost.

If you’re passionate about sport and want to inspire the next generation, we’d love to hear from you.
