Our goal is to ensure clients receive all the benefits they are entitled to and have the support they need to thrive in their new environments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Home Visits: Accompany our team on home visits every other Tuesday morning, helping to build relationships and trust with clients as you understand their specific needs.
  • Assist with Registrations: Help register clients at various events, ensuring they can access the services available to them, from immigration advice to healthcare.
  • Make Referrals: Support clients in connecting with both internal projects and external organisations, providing them with resources that promote independence and well-being.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in activities at our Drop-In on Tuesdays, Food Hub on Wednesdays, and Let’s Play on Thursdays, assisting parents with enrolling their children in school and accessing educational resources.

Why This Role is Exciting:

  • Direct impact on lives: You’ll play a crucial role in helping clients navigate the services available to them, making a tangible difference in their lives.
  • Be part of a supportive team: Join a compassionate group dedicated to understanding and meeting the needs of individuals and families in our community.
  • Gain valuable experience: Learn about community resources, client support, and service referrals while contributing to a meaningful cause.
  • Empower clients: Help individuals access essential services that enable them to build independent and fulfilling lives.

Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Strong communication skills: You can connect with clients in a compassionate and understanding manner, making them feel comfortable and valued.
  • Team player: You enjoy collaborating with others and supporting the team in achieving shared goals.
  • Organisational skills: You are detail-oriented and can help manage client registrations and referrals efficiently.

About Carriers of Hope

Our organisation supports Refugees, Asylum Seekers and other Migrants in Coventry.
We offer practical support to our clients by supplying vital necessities, ranging from food and nappies to pushchairs, toys, books, kitchenware and furniture. We repurpose high-quality donations from our local community, ensuring that individuals have access to everything they need to build their new lives in Coventry and reduce waste in our city too.
We foster a welcoming community for newcomers to the city, ensuring that no one faces the challenges of adjusting to a new place, language, and culture alone. By volunteering with us, our clients gain valuable opportunities to improve their English, develop new skills, deepen their understanding of their adopted home, and increase their chances of employment.
We work with partner organisations and agencies across the city to ensure our isolated clients can access all of the services available to ensure a happy and healthy future, from helping an individual understand the NHS App and make vital medical appointments, to linking them with legal experts and employment services, to enrolling them on budgeting courses, our aim is to ensure that everyone is empowered to live a positive, independent life.
Our work is made possible by the support and dedication of our diverse volunteer team, which includes local people, current and former clients, students, corporate teams, community groups, and professionals.
Whoever you are, we believe you can bring something truly special and important to Carriers of Hope. We offer both regular and one-off volunteering opportunities across all projects, providing full training, chances to improve your English or enhance your skills, and, most importantly, an opportunity to join a vibrant and welcoming community.
