Our Speaker volunteers engage audiences about the important work of Carers Trust Heart of England, inspiring them to take action, as they speak with schools, universities, businesses, youth groups, religious places of worship, service organisations, and many more.
If you are a confident public speaker or someone looking to develop their public speaking skills, with a passion for raising awareness about an important cause, or you have a personal story about the support you’ve received from Carers Trust Heart of England that you’re comfortable talking about, then we’d love you to join our team.
As a Carers Trust Heart of England speaker, you will be actively finding local opportunities to talk about Carers Trust Heart of England, and rallying others to support our mission, while giving it your personal touch. A flexible role that can fit around you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Based at home, you’ll visit groups in your local area.
- Inspire others to support Carers Trust Heart of England, in any way they can
- Be familiar with Carers Trust Heart of England, and our services.
- Use resources to deliver engaging and motivational talks Proactively find and approach local groups and organisations to host a talk.
- Represent Carers Trust Heart of England at local events and cheque presentations – saying thank you!
- Working with the Fundraising team, identify and plan which groups to approach and when. Keeping records updated.
- Deliver a minimum of four talks or workshops per year, either online and/or face-to-face.
- Keep up to date with our key messages, appeals, campaigns, fundraising, and volunteering
- Demonstrate Carers Trust Heart of England values, always leaving others with a positive view of our organisation and the work that we do.
- Pass on donations and/or offers to support Carers Trust Heart of England to our Fundraising Team.
The skills you have:
- Good knowledge of your local area, and a willingness to find and approach local organisations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in public speaking is beneficial, confident speaker
- The ability to use and access to a computer/laptop is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel to local talks in your area.

- Receive an induction, relevant training, the support you need to carry out your role, and agreed out-of-pocket expenses (reimbursed within our guidelines).
Times and Commitment:
- Most talks would be completed Monday to Friday evenings and maybe at weekends.
Please note that the lower age limit for volunteering with Carers Trust Heart of England is 18, due to our safeguarding policy and insurance. This post is subject to a successful informal interview and a DBS check.
