At Carers Trust Heart of England our social media channels provide advice and support to unpaid carers and people with care and support needs.Detailed description
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help moderate our Facebook Support Group. The Volunteer Moderator(s) will oversee that the forum is used appropriately and that there is a safe and comfortable environment for people to chat. Moderators will delete any comments not in line with the group rules and acceptable usage policy and block or mute participants if necessary.
What you’ll be doing:
- Commit to moderating the private Facebook group at agreed times.
- Adherence to Carers Trust Heart of England’s Data Protection and Social Media policies.
- Protect the Charity’s brand and reputation.
- Honour the time commitments you make and to give reasonable notice if this is not possible.
- Report any safeguarding concerns as directed to do so. Block or mute participants, if necessary, in consultation with staff.
- Delete any comments not in line with group rules or acceptable usage policy.
- Support clients to navigate the group safely.
- To approve posts.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
We do not expect you to:
- Give medical advice.
- Share your personal experience or any personal details.
The skills you have:
- Ability to understand that every carer's experience of caring is different.
- IT literacy / confident in using IT. Ability to work alone. Flexible and responsive to meet needs.
- Friendly and approachable. Good level of written communication.
- An open-minded and non-judgmental approach
Equipment needed:
- A computer or smartphone with access to the internet.
- Social media account (Facebook).
Times and Commitment:
- The role is home-based.
- The role is ongoing and can be completed Monday to Friday flexibly and by prior agreement.
- The volunteer wouldn’t be expected to check the group at weekends or bank holidays.

Please note that the lower age limit for volunteering with Carers Trust Heart of England is 18, due to our safeguarding policy and insurance. This post is subject to a successful interview and a DBS check.
