As a Volunteer Employability & Youth Mentor, you will support young people to develop their employability skills.
About Arising Youth CIC
Arising Youth CIC is a community interest company based in Coventry, committed to empowering young people aged 16–30 to develop their confidence, skills and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
We support young people, particularly those from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds, to overcome barriers to employment, build meaningful connections and progress towards education, training and work.
We are looking for a passionate and supportive volunteer to join our team and help young people prepare for their futures.
About the Role
As a Volunteer Employability & Youth Mentor, you will support young people to develop their employability skills, build confidence and take practical steps towards their career goals.
You will work directly with young people, provide one-to-one guidance, support a small caseload of participants and help us strengthen relationships with employers, community organisations and other local partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about youth development, employability, mentoring and making a positive difference in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- CV and application support: Help young people prepare and improve their CVs, complete job applications and tailor their applications to specific opportunities.
- Interview preparation: Support participants with interview techniques, practice interviews, confidence building and communicating their skills and experiences effectively.
- Mentoring and guidance: Provide encouragement, practical advice and one-to-one mentoring to help young people identify their strengths, set goals and work towards their aspirations.
- Caseload management: Support an agreed caseload of young people, maintain appropriate records of meetings and progress, follow up on agreed actions and signpost participants to relevant opportunities and services.
- Employability workshops: Assist with the planning and delivery of workshops covering employability, career planning, communication, workplace skills and personal development.
- Career fairs and events: Represent Arising Youth CIC at career fairs, networking events, community events and employer engagement activities, helping young people access information and opportunities.
- Community engagement: Help build positive relationships with community groups, local organisations, employers, colleges and other stakeholders to increase opportunities for young people.
- Employer engagement: Support the identification of potential employers, mentors, speakers and partners who can contribute to our programmes and create pathways into employment.
- Monitoring and feedback: Help us gather participant feedback, track progress and understand the impact of our activities.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals who are enthusiastic about supporting young people and helping them reach their potential.
You may have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Careers guidance, employability support or recruitment.
- CV writing, interview coaching or job-search support.
- Youth work, mentoring, coaching or personal development.
- Human resources, business engagement or employer relations.
