We are looking for a compassionate and reliable volunteer to support refugees and asylum seekers attending our drop-in sessions.

Role Overview

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable volunteer to support refugees and asylum seekers attending our drop-in sessions. The role focuses on helping individuals develop essential digital skills to improve their access to services, education, and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support with basic digital skills
  • Assist with using computers, smartphones, and tablets
  • Support individuals with:
  • Setting up and using email accounts
  • Completing online forms (e.g. job applications, housing, benefits)
  • Navigating websites and online services
  • Creating CVs and searching for jobs
  • Help build confidence in using digital technology
  • Offer a friendly, patient, and inclusive environment
  • Work alongside staff to support the smooth running of drop-in sessions

Skills & Experience

  • Basic to intermediate digital skills (e.g. email, internet use, Microsoft Office)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and empathy when supporting individuals with different needs
  • Ability to explain things clearly and simply
  • Experience working with diverse communities (desirable but not essential)
